विश्वेश्वराय नरकार्णव तारणाय
कर्णामृताय शशिशेखर धारणाय
कर्पूरकांति धवलाय जटाधराय
दारिद्रय दु:ख दहनाय नम: शिवाय
viśvēśvarāya narakārṇava tāraṇāya
karṇāmṛtāya śaśiśēkhara dhāraṇāya ।
karpūrakānti dhavaḻāya jaṭādharāya
dāridryaduḥkha dahanāya namaśśivāya ॥ 1 ॥
The Lord of the universe who helps us
cross over the ocean of troubles;
The One who is like the ambrosial nectar to
ears and carries the crescent over his head;
As radiant as camphor, donning dreadlocks,

Wearing animal hide and smeared all over with the ash of corpses;
Graced with the third eye on the forehead
and carrying precious gem-studded earloops;
Donning clinking anklets and dreadlocks

पंचाननाय फणिराज विभूषणाय
हेमांशुकाय भुवनत्रय मण्डिताय
आनंदभूमिवरदाय तमोमयाय

pañchānanāya phaṇirāja vibhūṣaṇāya
hēmāṅkuśāya bhuvanatraya maṇḍitāya
ānanda bhūmi varadāya tamōpayāya ।

The five-faced One donning the King of serpents as an adornment;
Having a body frame as radiating as the golden rays and
the One who is the gracious ornament of the three realms.
Bestower of bounties, the storehouse of bliss, and darkness personified;

भानुप्रियाय भवसागर तारणाय
कालान्तकाय कमलासन पूजिताय
नेत्रत्रयाय शुभलक्षण लक्षिताय

kālāntakāya kamalāsana pūjitāya ।
nētratrayāya śubhalakṣaṇa lakṣitāya
