Leh Flashfloods Relief
WEEP NOT FOR THE GONE, SMILE FOR THE YET TO COME
In 2010, a spate of cloudbursts
and flash floods led to an extreme
geological event in the history of
the Himalayas. The water in the
river Indus and its tributaries
was overflowing. The sudden
downpour caused mudslides coursing
down the jagged mountain peaks;
buildings collapsed, burying
scores as they slept and rendering
thousands homeless. The cost of
permanent restoration and land
reclamation after such a disaster
was huge. The rescue operations
required a nation-wide support and
a multi-pronged approach to
address the aftermaths of the
disaster.
The core principle of
Rishi Chaitanya Trust clealry
delineates the need for humans to
rise for humans. It’s only if we
all hold our hands in midst of
surging and raging ocean, that we
can pave a way acros.
Rishi
Chaitanya Trust spared no effort
to rise to the humanitarian cause.
It granted a donation of 25 lakhs
via the HOPE TRUST (NDTV) to the
victims of the flash floods at
Leh.
